Outsourcing and Automation

As part of the online marketing jigsaw, outsourcing and automation is one of the pieces that will see your business drastically change. If you are a solopreneur, you will be familiar with the situation, of having just the one resource – YOU!! And yet there is an ever lengthening list of things that need to be undertaken. If you are a small business with a number of employees, there is always a point where you need more people, but can’t justify the expenditure in country.

For SME’s and one man bands, outsourcing is one of the ways to shift your productivity and you business to the next level. As a small business MNG also recognizes from first hand experience the change that happens, when you get your first full time outsourced resource. Prior to outsourcing, we out tasked. What’s the difference? Well out tasking for us was the pre cursor to finding out outsourced team. Out tasking is a great way of evaluating potential future resources – what we did was out task some of the activities that needed to be done, from the results, we were able to identify those resources that we would want to use again. These became part of our outsourced team. We took advantage of Geo Arbitrage – which is utilizing resources in other countries to undertake the required activities – paying a good wage to them, whilst they often possess as good as, if not better skills than someone you might have to pay 5 times more for on the ground in the country you are operating from.

Automation is also the best friend of the Small business. There are activities that need to be undertaken every day over and over again within your organisation. Where this happens, automate it. If you have an online business or are looking to set one up, then one of the main things you will need to keep an eye on is your statistics. Once you understand what is happening in your business you are able to then manage it. Collating your statistics like web page visits, bounce rate, stickiness, origin of traffic, conversion rates and click through rates is something that has to be done every day. Automating this process, so that your computer gets all this for you whilst you are making your morning coffee and breakfast is a great way to automate. Apply this in other areas of the business, using technology and you will start to see more of your time free up if you’ve been undertaking this, to concentrate on growing your business. If you have people in place, then by automating the more mundane admin heavy tasks for them, you free them up to be the more strategic resource that you employed them as in the first place!
